Okay, its that time again - I've had the tune in my head for at least 5-6 years, but instead of doing a Latintronica/Nortec version, I've ended up with a tribal-techno track, styled much like Kick Bong's "Progress in Happiness" and some old skool Medicine Drum, Goa Gil and the like. Makes use of a tabla based beat, interspersed with tribal sounds and pumping techno sonics. Extensive utilization of VSTi's including Rob Papen's Blue, Albino, and Swar Systems' Swarplug.

Samples Lao Ma from "Xena, Warrior Princess" saying "To conquer others is to have power. To conquer yourself is to know the way." . The cover is an alpha rendering of a shot from "Eyes Wide Shut".

Not merely "dream house" or "dream trance" but a "theme for a wet dream". That's it - my next job will be creating corny catchphrases for shitty music albums. Just say the word. FIDELIO.

Music Release: Positivity Is Infectious (Return of the Bigbeat)

I recently came across criticism of Dr Norman Vincent Peale's "Power of Positive Thinking" methodology as being nothing more than self-hypnosis. How does it matter what it borrows from or is a manifestation of, if it leads to tangible results and desired outcomes?



Track's called "Positivity Is Infectious" [had a working title of Return of the Bigbeat]. The drum loop is called "Apache" and its freely available all over the web. Production was done in FL Studio, and makes extensive use of the Blue VSTi by Rob Papen. Post production was done in Ableton Live 6, and the vocal sample is that of Wes Bentley from "American Beauty". Listen online or download free mp3.

This one's called Exporting Nepotism. Uses the VSTis Poizone and Vanguard. Composed in FL Studio. Includes a sample from Austin Powers/Goldmember, where Goldmember, in his funny Dutch accent goes "Welcome to 1975 Austin Powers and father". I don't really know how to classify the music, but I'd say its somewhere between Goa, old school dance and house - I just call it "techno". Unclassifiable techno. Like Underworld. Or CJ Bolland? Aphrodisiacs, Afro Dizzy Axe. This one's been lying on my hard disk for a while, languishing whilst OurMedia goes into purported Alpha release mode. Seriously, that site fucking drives me nuts sometimes. Downtime, authentication issues, scripting errors, lost media. Far out.

Anyway, yeah. So I'm having trouble classifying my music as always - can't seem to stick to one genre at a time, which is probably a result of listening to a variety of styles. This one shifts between ambient and dub, but isn't either, or an amalgamation.

Murder By Proxy

George W. Bush has avenged his father, George Bush Sr. Some call it an execution, the law catching up with the lawless. I think its murder by proxy. Shame on everyone who calls this is a victory for the righteous. This is Bush's way of salvaging some lost pride over Iraq and extracting revenge on a sworn enemy of his immediate family, not justice for Saddam Hussein's injustices.

I didn't feel like adding too many samples to this one, even though I'm building up quite a collection of Bushism WAV files/audio clips. Man, we've all heard of Israeli armymen tripping on acid, at full moon parties in Goa and elsewhere. But what about the friendly boys from o'er the fence - the Hamas, the Hezbollah etc., huh?

9 Years On [Music Release]

After the recent mashup overdose, I'm back to my beloved FL Studio, tweaking and releasing tracks that were probably ready to see daylight a few weeks back. This particular track's been under composition for a little over 2 months. I can't seem to decide what genre it fits into, and whether its even ready to be published, but hey, can't be buggered working on it anymore. Its meant for someone I hadn't seen in almost a decade. I call it "9 Years On", and it probably sounds like the Crystal Method meeting some Nordic ambient outfit. Listen here, or download free mp3.

Y'know what I'd really like to do next? Work with a vocalist and a graphic designer. Collaborate. Maybe even join hands with a master-tweaker, as I focus on composition.

In other news, my car's written off thanks to a recent accident, and I now own a brand new second hand Honda Civic. Also went and saw Borat last Saturday, which was a big letdown. All the gags are on the TV adverts for the flick, which basically means you've seen it all before you've even seen it. I used to be a big Borat fan when it was a little skit on Ali G - and maybe that's how it should be. 80 odd minutes of this guy put me to sleep.
