Lost MP3s, Data Recovery, and LisaNova (ahhhhh)!

Man, I've just lost about 110 gigs of music, including work-in-progress compositions and pirated MP3s. Damn. I'd put 'em all on an external Maxtor storage device, and one fine day, I get a Windows Write Delay error. I ignore it, unplug and replug the USB device, and one fine day, to my astonishment, the directory structure has become a massive blob of nothingness. Now that I've fucked up Superannuation/Wealth Management certification exam, I might get around to fixing my multitude of computer woes. Actually, I haven't "just" lost the data- its been lost for a week or thereabouts, hence the repeat tracks on my Last.fm XML feed. Yes, I have limited choice in music, finally. And my anivirus has run out - time to format the hard disk, or make a visit to "FreeBay". HAHA! So yes, while I really want to release a new track, my 20 or so half-ready compositions have been "lost".

Next up, Fadereu, "that" IIT dude who ran CSF/DesiMediaBitch has come up with this fascinating piece of audio-video technology.

Whilst on YouTube, I love LisaNova - she's hot, she's funny, her accents crack me up, and she's going to be famous as. Check out her skits - worth the bandwidth. And this video - Beck would be proud.

Music Release: Positivity Is Infectious (Return of the Bigbeat)

I recently came across criticism of Dr Norman Vincent Peale's "Power of Positive Thinking" methodology as being nothing more than self-hypnosis. How does it matter what it borrows from or is a manifestation of, if it leads to tangible results and desired outcomes?

Cow Tse Tung Sound System - Positivity Is Infectious (Return of the Bigbeat Edit)

Track's called "Positivity Is Infectious" [had a working title of Return of the Bigbeat]. The drum loop is called "Apache" and its freely available all over the web. Production was done in FL Studio, and makes extensive use of the Blue VSTi by Rob Papen. Post production was done in Ableton Live 6, and the vocal sample is that of Wes Bentley from "American Beauty". Listen online or download free mp3.

John Howard for '07.

Music release: Seraphim Descent

Finally, a track release after all these months! This one was produced in FL Studio and mastered in Ableton. I call it Seraphim Descent and it sounds like old school Balearic trance with a tinge of Goa/Psy. Listen or download free mp3.

Music Release: Quality CNOTrol (In The Time Of Climate Change)

Just a nice little tune I call "Quality CNOtrol". Made in FL Studio, makes extensive use of the Albino VSTi. Good old techno. Listen online, or download free mp3.

Music Release: Exporting Nepotism

Exporting Nepotism. Cover features George Bush and son, Amitabh Bachchan and son, and finally, Kerry Packer and son. STOP nepotism today.
This one's called Exporting Nepotism. Uses the VSTis Poizone and Vanguard. Composed in FL Studio. Includes a sample from Austin Powers/Goldmember, where Goldmember, in his funny Dutch accent goes "Welcome to 1975 Austin Powers and father". I don't really know how to classify the music, but I'd say its somewhere between Goa, old school dance and house - I just call it "techno". Unclassifiable techno. Like Underworld. Or CJ Bolland? Listen online, or download free mp3.
Excuse the garish cover.

Young Folks/Ultimate House Party [Deconstruction]

I was at one of these gaming stores with a friend when I heard this really catchy track I'd heard on the radio a couple of months back, but hadn't downloaded until now. Its called "Young Folks" and is by a Swedish band called Peter, Bjorn and John, featuring Victoria Bergsman. Watch the video here (courtesy Youtube).

Also, got a hold of "Love Me Now" by Secret Knowledge, which I first heard on an album called "Ultimate House Party", out on the now defunct Deconstruction [BMG] in, I'd say 1997, back in India.

Ultimate House Party

It holds some good memories - besides being my initiation into the sounds of Monkey Mafia, Lionrock and Death in Vegas, I blew up half the money I was meant to give my little cousin sister for Raksha Bandhan. Luckily, she was only a week or so old, so she couldn't complain to my grandpa about the shortfall.
Tracklisting:
1 Grid, The Diablo (The Devil Rides Out Mix)
2 Way Out West Domination (Bonkers Break Beat Mix)
3 Felix Don't You Want Me (Patrick Prins Remix)
Remix - Patrick Prins
4 Robert Miles Children (Dream Version)
5 Secret Knowledge Love Me Now (Secret Knowledge Mix)
6 M People Itchycoo Park (Hed Boys Post-Op Mix)
Remix - Hed Boys
7 Republica Ready To Go
8 Dave Clarke Southside (Album Version)
9 Harmonix Landslide (Way Out West Mix)
Remix - Way Out West
10 Sasha & Maria Be As One (12" Mix)
11 Hed Boys Girls & Boys (Seka Mix)
Remix - Dancing Divaz
12 Lionrock Fire Up The Shoesaw
13 Monkey Mafia Blow The Whole Joint Up (Original Mix)
14 Death In Vegas Dirt (Edit)

Music Release: Afro Dizzy Axe (Viagra Tiagra Mix)

Aphrodisiacs, Afro Dizzy Axe. This one's been lying on my hard disk for a while, languishing whilst OurMedia goes into purported Alpha release mode. Seriously, that site fucking drives me nuts sometimes. Downtime, authentication issues, scripting errors, lost media. Far out.

If only Google would let you host MP3s on Blogger.
Anyway, yeah. So I'm having trouble classifying my music as always - can't seem to stick to one genre at a time, which is probably a result of listening to a variety of styles. This one shifts between ambient and dub, but isn't either, or an amalgamation.
Download free MP3 or listen online.

Cannabanoid By Step (A New Kids On The Block vs Cosmosis Mashup Release)

DJ Cow Tse Tung is proud to present the next in our "Another Low Quality Mix" series of crazy mashups, by bringing together one of the 90s favorite boy bands, and amongst the foremost goatrance/psy producers from the same era...

New Kids On The Block vs Cosmosis Mashup

New Kids On The Block and Cosmosis meet in a mash clash of the genres, in "Cannabanoid By Step", which borrows from their respective hits, "Step By Step" and "Cannabanoid".

Qwerty Pwerty (The Digital Divide)

I'm becoming the poor man's version of Bluetech, OTT, and Shpongle. Here's an ambient dub track I call "Qwerty Pwerty", which deals with the pressing issue of the ever-widening digital divide. "HOW", you might ask...well, listen to the percussion, and you'll realize I can't afford decent VSTi drumkits or virtual drum-machines.

Qwerty Pwerty. The Digital Divide in ambient dub garb.

The track's been out for a while now, but I just didn't have the time to do my one of my fake press releases on this blog. Listen, or download free mp3.

Haal Kaisa Hai Gutbuster Ka (A Bollywood Mashup featuring Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle pitted against Bentley Rhythm Ace)

I can feel every muscle and sinew(ache) in my body today. Even ones I never knew existed. All thanks to a mind-boggling 6 hours of Darklight laser tagging, where I fared reasonably alright (rankings of 5, 4, 9, 14, 21, 19, 1, 3). So, as a result of not being able to move without considerable discomfort, I decided to kill time by "fixing" up some Bollywood tracks to suit my own quirky taste in music.

With the quantity of unfinished music I release in the name of experimentalism and creative overflows, I could be competing with Muslimgauze pretty soon, the only differences being that he had talent, was signed to a label and was a rebel with a cause.

We stick to the Bollywood theme, continuing from the previous couple of releases. And these aren't the regular Bollywood mashups, mixed to hip-hop beats, and some boring kid trying his hand at rapping. They all have a distinctly digital/electronic flavor to them, because that's pretty much the only kind of music I like.

Haal Kaisa Hai Janaab Ka vs The Theme From Gutbuster

The Cow Tse Tung Sound System proudly presents the next Bollywood mashup in the series, "Haal Kaisa Hai Gutbuster Ka", featuring the Asha Bhosle-Kishore Kumar hit from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, "Haal Kaisa Hai Janab Ka" mashed up with "Theme From Gutbuster" by the prankster bigbeat duo of Bentley Rhythm Ace, ex-Pop Will Eat Itself. Listen now, or download your MP3 copy now.

Hippie Tera Mastana (A Bollywood Mashup; Kishore Kumar vs Adrian Sherwood)

If you love bands like Gotan Project, and artistes like Bebel Gilberto, you'd do well to get hold of 60s and 70s Bollywood music. Anyway, so this is my first trip into supposedly lacking-in-credibility Bollywood mashup-making.

Roop Tera Mastana meets Hari Up Hari in true Bollywood mashup fashion

Featuring the reggae-tinged Bollywood hit, from the movie Aradhana, "Roop Tera Mastana", with On-U Sound kingpin, Adrian Sherwood's Indian tinged dub track from his fabulous solo release, Never Trust A Hippy, "Hari Up Hari", DJ Cow Tse Tung and MC Rasta D'Sasta are proud to present, "Hippie Tera Mastana", featuring vocals by Bollywood playback singer and actor, Kishore Kumar. As we lack credibility, I thought we'd go for incredibility. Listen online NOW, or download free mp3.

The Cow Tse Tung translation of the lyrics is:
"Your figure is funky
Make no mistakes while f*ckin' ".
Crude and senseless? I know - but at least I didn't write the original lyrics. Visual Bollywood mashups and spoofs available on our sister blog, The Bollywood Cowbserver, United Nations Organization certified intruder.

Watch the original video of Roop Tera Mastana, featuring Bollywood actor and Member of Parliament, Rajesh Khanna and Saif Ali Khan's mommy, Sharmila Tug-whore Tagore here. Or on this blog...

DJ Cow Tse Tung Presents The Bollywood Plagiarism Soundclash, Vol 1

Happy Australia Day, and a Happy Republic Day (Indian)

I decided to make a series of megamixes where a Bollywood "inspired" copy is followed by the original. No fancy mashups - just a Pretender vs the Real McCoy battle. Future volumes to follow, depending on the response to this release, and of course user-submitted track-listings, for the next work in the series .

Sound like fun? Wait till you listen to it ;-).

Album:

Moaning Cash Machine (Hard Fi vs Underworld Mashup Release)

Been a while since I posted a mashup. This one pits two great British acts, and might I say, both have dance-rock allegiances.

Hard Fi vs Underworld MP3 Music Mashup Remix Cover

DJ Cow Tse Tung proudly presents the next mix in the "Another Low Quality Mix" mashup series, the thumping "Moaning Cash Machine", which pits Hard-Fi's "Cash Machine" against Underworld's "Moaner" which also featured on one of the Batman movies. Listen, or download a free mp3 NOW!!

Expedition to Serpo (Ufology Politricks Edit)

I find ufology fascinating, and tend to swing between the extremes of fanatical believer and die-hard skeptic. Here's a little something that makes use of my favorite preset on the Novation V-Station softsynth/VSTi, and samples Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, JFK, and Star Trek.

Expedition to Serpo

Samples courtesy WavSource.com. Listen online or download free mp3. As is obvious, Eat Static rank amongst my key influences.

For further details on the story behind this track, have a look at the SERPO Project, and the Roswell incident to start with.

While on paranormal phenomena, it usually freaks me out. As such, when it is debunked, I tend to feel that balance and order has been restored. Check out The Skeptic Report and the excellent work of James Randi. Also, psychic Uri Geller caught using a magnet. So much for telekinesis and whatever junk he comes up with. Finally, Bullshido.net - "martial arts without the BS", they say.

Start Of A Dreadlock Holiday

Might be an idea for the Cricket World Cup organizers to use this track as their official song. Yea, right!

I don't like cricket, OH NO, I love it, UH , I don't like Jamaica, OH NO, I love it-uhhhhh

Not my favorite mix, but someone else out there might like it - yeah, after months of avoiding this mashup, I've finally succumbed to search engine pressure (rrrrright - hardly get any visitors here)...presenting 10cc's "Dreadlock Holiday" with the Drumattic Twins' "Start of Something" in "Start Of A Dreadlock Holiday". Only one dub. Listen, or download mp3.

This is a funny-ass version of Madonna's "Hung Up" in Spanish. Watch below...

Been listening to Enter Shikari, a British trance-rock band, or so they call these guys. Not a new concept, as much as the media would have you believe, but the sound is great. "Spawn" OST reborn.

Spawn: The Album was released in July 1997 and brought together popular rock bands at the time including Metallica, Korn, Marilyn Manson and Silverchair with well known DJs and producers such as The Crystal Method, Roni Size, and Atari Teenage Riot. A similar concept was previously implemented on the rock/hip-hop fused Judgement Night soundtrack. The album debuted at #7 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and stayed in the chart for 25 weeks.

CTTungisms

Q. Who was the first man deported to outer space?
A. Urine Gangrene

Q. What was the Bollywood remake of Austin Powers called?
A. Ashwin Pawar(s).

Q. What were the lyrics to the Pussycat Drolls' first hit?
A. "Dontcha wish your girlfriend smoked pot like me......DONTCHAAA".

Save the best for last, so here we go...
I have a client sitting with me, and it's taking us a bit longer than usual to get things done. A little voice from the back squeaks, "Mommy, are you in trouble?" and then gives us the widest "I know ALL" grin ever.

Murder By Proxy

Saddam Hussein's Murder By Proxy

George W. Bush has avenged his father, George Bush Sr. Some call it an execution, the law catching up with the lawless. I think its murder by proxy. Shame on everyone who calls this is a victory for the righteous. This is Bush's way of salvaging some lost pride over Iraq and extracting revenge on a sworn enemy of his immediate family, not justice for Saddam Hussein's injustices.

I didn't feel like adding too many samples to this one, even though I'm building up quite a collection of Bushism WAV files/audio clips. I call the production Murder By Proxy, and you can listen to it here, or get a free MP3 here. Contains samples from the motion picture Gladiator and of course, the leader of the free world, President George W Bush of the United States of America.
