Here Comes Jesus, (I Mean, The Sun)
I've been hanging out at Disinformation.com again.
Check out this video which implies that Christians are sun-worshipping pagans, just like me. Not satisfied? Check out what Acharya S has to say...
So, as I always say (with a heartfelt thanks to my old friend from ISKCON, who told me about this a long time before some dodgy ABCD decided to make some moolah by using the chant on greeting cards), We Vishnu a Merry Krishna and a Hare New Year, kids.
Tomorrow or day after, look out for pictures of my home-studio setup. Just a Behringer BCD2000, a Novation XIS Synth 25, Stanton DJ headphones, and of course, the usual suspect software - Ableton, FL Studio, Mixcraft etc.

Ox Fucked Graduate
Cow Tse Tung Sound System and MC Rasta D'Sasta present a brand new track, "Ox Fucked Graduate", a quasi-classic-goatrance track. Listen, or download free mp3.
Also contains the following samples of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully's voices respectively (from The X-Files):
- "I was drugged."
- "I don't trust you."
Don't forget to check out INXS' latest single, "Never Let You Go". Its something Salmonella Dub would've released. But hey, its great to hear a track like this from INXS. I can see the late Michael Hutchence smiling from up above. Great track - love the dubby sound. Features my beloved former motherland, and subtitles in Hindi, besides Channel [V] (India) VJ, Sarah Jane Dias. Watch the video below.
Finally, I've managed to locate lost Indian rock outfit, Colourblind (a duo comprised of Ram Sampath on vocals, keyboards & drums and Siddarth Achrekar on electric & acoustic guitar & bass ) at long, long last. After years of being underground, they've made their tracks available at this location. Check out Blast and the self-titled single if you doubt the quality of their music. Siddarth talks of why the band split...
Once and for all let me clear some facts on this board as to why we never carried on doing what we did. We were rehearsing for a major tour and i had an ear complication. I busted my ear drum which got infected and went deaf for a month in one ear. The doc gave me 2 options. To carry on or risk going deaf permanently overnight in one ear. This is the reason why the Colourblind project was scrapped and which is why we never played live after that.Besides that many of us had other career responsibilities as well and none of us had forseen the album skyrocket in popularity. For us the whole project was a fun thing and not something that we could have built our lives around, especially in India. But it was fun while it lasted. Too bad we couldnt play live which would have been fun, but not all things happen the way they should. Maybe sometime in the future, who knows? Another album perhaps :)

Leadership Challenge Dub
Neil Barnes of Leftfield fame is BACK!! Yes, with "Rhythm and Stealth" collaborator, Nick Rappacioli and new kid on the block, Sarah Johns (great voice, pleasant looking girl), with a brand spankin' new band called "LOSTDOGFOUND". They have a demo track out, "Still You", and it is MIND BLOWING. Major label X, sign 'em up already.
"You're STILL YOU."
Back to my crappy old releases, this one's called "Leadership Challenge Dub" - yeah right. I wish I had Peter Costello's balls and John Howard's luck/grip on the seat of ultimate power. Listen, or download free mp3.
I think I need to find a proper direction with my dubs, rather than meander between ambient and psychedelic dub like that of OTT and Bluetech, and then try to move away to classic sounds like that of Lee Perry, King Tubby, Adrian Sherwood et al. Not happy with the sound. This one, for example, was meant to be a Fila Brazillia styled downbeat track, and then I just had to try out all these dub VST plugins I'd recently downloaded. Been a while since I've come up with a track that satisfies me in terms of melody and quality. Even the mashups don't do much to please me at the moment - all too simple, no rhythm, no creativity, too many FX, too much beatmapping. Sucks.

A Little Light To Take Me Up The Steps (R.X.R.A. vs Dreadzone Mashup Release!)
This week, DJ Cow Tse Tung presents some Hispanic sounding dub-house (Nortec, anyone?) by Dreadzone (R.I.P. Steve Roberts) in the form of "First Steps" mashed up with a great tune off the Fifth Element OST (end credits) by Eric Serra, or R.X.R.A., "Little Light of Love". We call the mashup "A Little Light To Take Me Up The Steps", Collodel Kalamunda Edit after this great little Italian ice-cream place (we recommend the pistachio flavored gelato) in the Perth Hills suburb of Kalamunda, where we were today. Listen, or download free mp3.
Ms CTT and myself went to Rebel Sports to get ourselves Cricket Australia flags and little CA ducks - and I went...wow, Glenn McGrath dolls!
Next thing I know...SLAP.
Yes. Ms CTT it was.
Finally, a very happy birthday to GK. Hope you have a great year ahead.

DJ Cow Tse Tung's Arabic MGMXXX Two O Six - Choice Middle Eastern Flavored Cuts
What can I say - I'm hooked onto these virtual DJ and music productions apps. Instead of making compilations, this Christmas, I'm doing mix CDs for close friends and family.
This particular Arabic flavored mix, that clocks in at 1:02:20 was compiled using the amazingly user-friendly Acoustica MixCraft, and features:
01. Shai No Shai - Caravan
02. Cheb Khaled - Didi
03. Rachid Taha - Ole Ole
04. Rachid Taha - Barra Barra
05. Rachid Taha - Garab
06. Mario Piu/Mauro Picotto- Arabian Pleasure (Vocal Mix)
07. Jean Michel Jarre ft Natacha Atlas - C'est La Vie
08. Dreadzone vs Cheb Mami - Mama (Arabic Remix)
09. Cheb Khaled, Faudel and Rachid Taha - Abdel Kader
10. Rachid Taha - Ya Rayah
11. Cheb Khaled - Aicha
12. Leftfield - Rino's Prayer
A journey through Arabian techno, lounge, dub, and rock. With a hint of rai.
Listen ONLINE or download free mp3.
I'd include Amr Diab, Dania etc, but their music doesn't appeal to me. I also considered including Alien Soap Opera and Eat Static (Dionysius, HELLO!?), but they're too abstract for the common ear. Might've been an idea to include "Little Light of Love" off the Fifth Element OST.

Another Space Shanty In The Wall [A Pink Floyd Vs Leftfield Mashup Release]
Another mashup in the wall. Yes, here's the Pink Floyd classic, "Another Brick In The Wall" married with Leftfield's "Space Shanty". We call the lovechild "Another Space Shanty In The Wall [DJ Cow Tse Tung's 100% Flunkie Edit]" . Listen, or download free mp3. We don't need no education. Or do we?
In other news, I really like Nadia Ali, of IIO/Rapture fame. That's critical news, alright?
Fine Muslim girl, eh?

Legionnaire Abdel Kader's War (Mashup Release!)
Continuing with our focus on Middle Eastern music, the Cow Tse Tung Sound System presents an Arabic/rai mashup/remix/bootleg that'll make you say, that'll make your donkey bray Sheikh Yer Bootay. This one's the lovechild of a marriage between prog and dub house pioneers, Leftfield (muchos respectos to Paul Daley and Neil Barnes) and the rai trio of Rachid Taha, Faudel, and Cheb Khaled, all famous names in their own right. Featuring the track "6/8 War" intertwined with our rai singers' collaboration, "Abdel Kader", DJ Cow Tse Tung proudly presents "Legionnaire Abdel Kader's War"...

Hezbollah Raver
Man, we've all heard of Israeli armymen tripping on acid, at full moon parties in Goa and elsewhere. But what about the friendly boys from o'er the fence - the Hamas, the Hezbollah etc., huh?
This one's for fans of Arabian techno, Arabian breakbeats, and everything else that even remotely resembles the sound I'm blabbering about. I call it "Hezbollah Raver". Sounds like Muslimgauze on ecstasy. Or a really crappy Gigi D'Agostino mix. Listen, or download free mp3, girls and boys.

9 Years On [Music Release]
After the recent mashup overdose, I'm back to my beloved FL Studio, tweaking and releasing tracks that were probably ready to see daylight a few weeks back. This particular track's been under composition for a little over 2 months. I can't seem to decide what genre it fits into, and whether its even ready to be published, but hey, can't be buggered working on it anymore. Its meant for someone I hadn't seen in almost a decade. I call it "9 Years On", and it probably sounds like the Crystal Method meeting some Nordic ambient outfit. Listen here, or download free mp3.
Y'know what I'd really like to do next? Work with a vocalist and a graphic designer. Collaborate. Maybe even join hands with a master-tweaker, as I focus on composition.
In other news, my car's written off thanks to a recent accident, and I now own a brand new second hand Honda Civic. Also went and saw Borat last Saturday, which was a big letdown. All the gags are on the TV adverts for the flick, which basically means you've seen it all before you've even seen it. I used to be a big Borat fan when it was a little skit on Ali G - and maybe that's how it should be. 80 odd minutes of this guy put me to sleep.

Pyrokinetic Moonwalkers' Mashup!
Another mashup - its been out on my OurMedia page for a while now, but I was really busy with work, so *cough* I couldn't find the time to visit Blogger. Honestly!
So DJ Cow Tse Tung presents the original prodigy, Michael Jackson versus the other Prodigy [Liam Howlett and co.] in "Non Stop Firestarter [Pyrokinetic Moonwalker Edit]". "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" meets "Firestarter" in a thumping dancefloor hit. Listen, or download free mp3!

Hey! Ya Missing Tracey, Andre 3K?
'Twas the most secret of secret dalliances in the music industry. Tracey Thorn, from Everything But The Girl and Andre 3000 from Outkast. And lovelorn Andre, what did he do to serenade his beloved? Sing her hit, "Missing" to the tune of his own hit, "Hey Ya".
Cupid incarnate, DJ Cow Tse Tung presents the Everything But The Girl vs. Outkast mashup, "Hey! Ya Missing Tracey, Andre?" Sure she is - Todd Terry's long gone. Listen online, or download free mp3.
Reminds of the time I was in a Nissan (sobs, my beloved Pulsar went to the grave last Monday) Skyline with two Bangladeshis and a Hyderabadi, who were chewing my brains off with the worst rendition of "Hey Ya" ever. Lucky Andre 3000 wasn't around - he would sure have shot them, and then not missed them.

Celebs That Make You Go Mmmmmm...
Okay, no silly crap, no nonsense today.
I'm not a student, but I was invited to spend my Saturday at the Curtin University of Technology's viticulture/agribusiness labs. The first time anyone's let the Mad Cow enter a laboratory. I felt like a scientist. I even had a lab coat on *sobs*. And of course, I made myself a name badge, "Dr. Doom". Very apt. Associate Professor of E-cow-nometrics. Impressive huh?
Anyway kids - I want you to learn a lesson from these celebrities. Reach out to your fans. Be a good, humble person. Show genuine gratitude and interest.
First up is Sanjana Jon. Not only is she a great, great woman (holds a Philosophy degree, if I remember correctly), but she's also a hot, and innovative designer, and does all this great charity stuff with the Miss Universe winners every year, besides surviving on minimal sleep, and functioning like a supermachine.
If I had piles of money, I'd buy out complete collections off her, and create Sanjana Jon museums.
Next is Mr. Deeder Zaman, who's famous for being the voice of early Asian Dub Foundation. I added him on MySpace, and the guy actually acknowledges my add request and thanks me for my support.
And then there's Sam, or Salman Gita from Loop Guru. Added him to my MySpace, and once again, there's a vote of thanks and a couple of replies to my messages. From Sam in PERSON.
This is the mark of greatness - a sign that the artiste has been through that struggle, and considers every psycho fan like me important enough to acknowledge. All this goes a long way to prove that you don't need to be a dickhead or bitch if you're famous.

GoaTranced (Mini-Me Radio Edit)
Yeh, yeh, I know, not a very innovative track title. This is not my first attempt at goatrance, but definitely the best yet. I'll release a full 8+minute version later. Contains vocal clips from Kubrick/Arthur C Clarke's 2001: A Space Odyssey. I've finally started using FL Studio 6, Producer Edition, and it seems to be quite a good upgrade over FL Studio 5. Goatranced is available for download as a free MP3 here, or can be heard on Ourmedia. Fans of Ayahuasca, Astral Projection and Hallucinogen should enjoy it.

GO THE SYDNEY SWANS
Anecdote, first.
Its June 2005, English boy Timmy, Malay boy "Carl" (his real name was Beef Rendang or something), and I&I are watching footy on T.V. Actually, I'm heating up dinner, and these two are glued to the television. A few minutes on, Tim asks me if I follow the game, and I say, "Nah mate, cricket fan here - can't understand footy at all". We all get back to whatever we're upto. 10 odd minutes on, Carl, who's been right there all along, and been listening to us, asks me, "Hey man, can you explain this game to me". Tim and me are looking at each other, and then at Carl, in a state of disbelief.
Anyway, so last year, the Sydney Swans took the premiership, but this year, the West Coast Eagles (who had a fabulous parade through the streets of Perth today) beat the Swans by 1 goal to take the 2006 premiership. I was shattered on Saturday, and spent Sunday and Monday away from the big bad world - until it dawned 'pon me what a great comeback the Swans had staged, considering the miserable first two quarters of the game.
So this one's dedicated to the Sydney Swans. From their sole supporter in the gold and blue draped city of Perth, drowning in the Swan river, only because of my Swan connexion.
Track's titled Red And White In A Puddle Of Gold and Blue - I nearly called it Sexaholic, but y'know, being Indian and all, I need to keep the kinks locked away in a vault.
Download free mp3 here. Or listen to it on Ourmedia.

Deeder is BZAKKK! Album Ki Boni Kara Do!
Remember Asian Dub Foundation's ground-breaking album, Rafi's Revenge, featuring the Asian Zach De La Rocha, Deeder Zaman?
Well, the kid who walked away to do his own thing is back, and you can catch some of his tunes on his MySpace page.
Talking about "kids", there was this one, who's never-say-die spirit was inspiring, to say the least. So my pasta cousin and me were walking the mean streets of Janpath, our respective mothers busy doing what they do best - wasting their husband's hard-earned money. We guys went off, got McDonalds meals (the WORST fucking Macca's I've ever had. Next time, its Aloo Tikki BARGAR for me), and come back to find this 11-12 year old child trying to hawk a Vibrating-Massage-Hairbrush-gadget to the ladies. Starting price? INR 200. My mother clearly indicates she's not interested, but my maasi gives it a shot, and then says "no thank you". So the kid latches on to my cousin and me, and tries to sell the comb to us guys. He tries every trick in the book, starting with, "bhaiya, boni kara do" (boni being a concept that if your opening sale of the day is a good one, the rest of the day will be great for you), "bhaiya, aapko videsh mein masseuse ke paas nahin jaana padega" etc.
(bewakoof bacchey, masseuse ke paas jaane mein hi to mazaa hai).
We told him we weren't interested, but there he was, still touting the benefits his product would bring to our miserable lives.
Eventually, I got sick of it and took out a 20 to give him, and the kid goes, "mein bhikhari nahin hoon" (I'm not a beggar). Hats off to this kid. He wanted the money, yet he would only accept it as payment for a sale, not as alms or charity. My cousin and me (okay, mainly me) pestered him about his family, school etc., , eventually asking him if he thought I was an idiot, because nobody does BONI at like 4 pm in the evening, to which his counterargument was that he finishes school at 2.30, and then comes to work. As our conversation went on, he brought the price down to around 90 bucks, all in the name of BONI, and it makes me wonder whether to respect his persistence, or try and tell him to get over superstition. I chose the former...
...Mainly because my cousin and me decided that his dad, the real firangi would be a great target for the kid. So we told him the man with the money was the gorah, and he should sell it to him, 'coz we kids only had 20 odd rupees between the two of us. History repeated itself with Uncle Gorah, who was baffled by the child's non-acceptance of a "donation".
Left Janpath around 6ish, and lurking behind a wall, was our little warrior, kinda scared of my mother, but still with a glimmer of hope in his eye, that one of us would buy his funky wares.
What I'll never forget is "mein bhikari nahin hoon".
Work-ethic, self-respect, the never-say-die spirit. At such a tender age.
We bow to the little master.

Criminal Intent
Everybody has a dream job. Personally, I'd like to be the equivalent of a CIO, COO or even a CFO in a criminal organization. C.T. Tung-san, CFO, Yakuza Nippon Pty. Ltd. Wiping my evil ass clean with dirty money, JPY (yen) in particular.
RESPECT!
Don't mess with me or my army of ninjas will rip you to shreds.
I mean, you can still have a great work ethic and strong values, despite being on the wrong side of the law. If the Robin Hood glamorization of crime on television and Hollywood flicks affects me to such a degree, I wonder what the extent of the impact on younger people in my generation is like. Hopefully, they're not half as gullible as I am.

Astral Intervention (Visions of Kali Edit)
Like my old friend Feldfunker, I've come to the conclusion that my first release of any track is the shittiest. Which is why I give every single an "edit"/"mix" co-title. Please expect re-releases as and when I manage to make the sounds blend better.
This one's called "Astral Intervention" (no relation to the great goatrance outfit, Astral Projection!). A faux diamond. Needs a bit more work, but hey, my job is composition - somebody else can do the mixing. That's the lazy man's attitude. The track goes out to my brother.
We invoke Ma Kali for two reasons here - one, because this is an offshoot of a stagnant project, and two, because I believe those charlatans posing as astrologers need to feel the power of the Mother.

Wardriving With A Nokia E60
Optus phone insurance finally did my phone swap over the weekend. Like the honest little cow that I am, I clearly told them I'd dropped my old 6820 on numerous occassions in Australia, India and Thailand. The wanker from Optus Insurance/Customer Claims Unit (1800 501 971), a curt dude called R**k goes, "dropped it overseas? Not covered, thanks and bye". Fucking asshole. I eventually lodged a complaint, and a claim, so this is a bittersweet victory of sorts. I now own a cool new Nokia E60.
While this is my first phone in over 4 years sans a traditional QWERTY, or even a modified Nokia keyboard, the mobile has some really nifty features, including:
- WLAN connectivity: I can go wardriving with my mobile!!
- Voice commands: I have like a goatrance ringtone, with this computerized voice going, "DINESH GANESH", or "JORDAN WANNABE", or whatever weird name I've tagged my contacts with. Its very "Boom Shankar". Don Shiva would be proud of me.
- Bluetooth: I can exchange pictures and shit without the need for wasting precious pennies on the dreaded MMS format.
- GPS: Haven't used this just yet - might prove to be pretty costly.
That's all I really care about. For more information, click here.
The one issue that I did encounter with the new phone was not being able to send SMSs, with a message saying "unable to send SMS" coming up every time I tried. This was easily solved by Optus Mobile support, who advised playing with my Message Centre settings, and swapping the existent number on my current Message Centre profile with one supplied by my service provider, viz. YES Optus. The name of the default message centre in this case is SMSC1, and the actual number to use is +61411990001.
In other news, I'm trying to figure out a way to restrict effects to a single Pattern in FL Studio, but I just can't get it. Maybe its time to give Acid and Reason a shot.

M16 Diplomacy
In honour of the great Thai military coup, Cow Tse Tung Sound System presents a jungle track with production skills that would put to shame nobody, but my own self...and possibly Goldie of Metalheadz fame.
Listen to/download M16 Diplomacy (The Sawasdee Shinawatra Edit) free MP3. Featuring samples from Black Hawk Down.
